Cantilever is ideal for many sheet metal applications, due to ease of access, high capacities, and vertical storage density. We also recommend specialized sheet metal racks for some applications. These same advantages also make it ideal for wood, stone and other sheets that must be safely stored off the floor and with space efficiency in mind.In this guide, we’ll explain what a cantilever deck is, if they are safe, and its advantages and disadvantages. We’ll discuss the maximum cantilever length, the types of materials to use, and how to design a cantilever deck. By selecting appropriate materials and implementing thorough weatherproofing, you can create a cantilever that withstands the elements and remains attractive for years to come. In crafting cantilevered structures, precision and planning are key.Buy 0.135" Mild Steel Sheet A569/ASTM A1011 Hot Rolled stock today on our website. I use 18 gauge sheet metal for most of my repairs. Old cars generally were made with 19 gauge, but that is hard to get from most suppliers. 20 is the default gauge for vendors when working around this because it saves them $$$, but I find that panel warp is better controlled with 18 gauge.
